a garden that overlooks the lake but has its entrance upstream. the garden design brings with it the theme of water through colour and movement.
in fact, plants were chosen that move with the lake breeze such as the light Stipa tenuifolia but also plants that evoke the colour of water and the sky such as Agapanthus ‘Midnight star’ and Salvia ‘Blue note’.
In fact, the design was designed differently depending on the areas:
– the entrance (lower than the street level) leading from the existing staircase to the house via a pathway in granite slabs laid on lawn and flanked by plants of Stipa tenuissima a beautiful Citrus x limon (the client’s emotional link) carpeted with Rosmarinus prostratus marks the entrance;
– the rivulet towards the lake has been augmented with Mediterranean plants including Rosmarinus officinalis, Agapanthus ‘Midnight star’, Salvia ‘Blue note’, Gaura, Westringia fruticose, Mhyrtus microphylla nano while the rivulet upstream more in the shade is filled with Hydrangeas of different varieties mixed with Anemone x Hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’.
all in all, the beauty of this garden between land and lake lies in the richness of the plants combined not only by the different exposures (shade-sun) but also by the colours of the flowers, the texture and colour of the foliage, rusticity and low maintenance plants.
